Next year, there are three international experts visiting:
Professor Marianna Fontana (Cardiologist) a cardiac MRI expert and researcher speaking on multimodality imaging in cardiac amyloidosis and how she manages cardiac amyloid
Professor Efstathios Kastritis (Haematologist) who led the landmark international trial using daratumumab in newly diagnosed light chain amyloidosis (AL) speaking on what's new and upcoming in AL treatment
Professor Isabel Conceição (Neurologist) researcher and clinician in hereditary amyloid neuropathy speaking on how she diagnoses and manages hereditary transthyretin (ATTR) with neuropathy in an endemic area
The Amyloidosis Workshops are biennial meetings organised by the Australian Amyloidosis Network catering for both Health Professionals as well as Patients Family and Carers. The meetings are held around May 8th our National Amyloidosis Day. It is an exciting time with tafamidis, our first Medicare funded targeted therapy for cardiac transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR) listed on the PBS this year, as well as, patisiran our first Medicare funded genetic therapy for hereditary neuropathic ATTR also listed in 2024.
